Affiliate disclosure
Right now: nothing
MiniSplitsHQ has no active affiliate partnerships and earns no commission from any link on this site today. Links to products and retailers are ordinary links: nothing is tagged, and clicking one sends us no money.
That is expected to change, and we want the record of what changes to exist before it does. The programs we have applied to or plan to apply to are HVACDirect, HeatAndCool.com through the Rakuten network, and the MRCOOL DIY Direct creator program, with Home Depot and Amazon as fallback options for accessories and tools. None of these has approved us as of this writing.
Some product links already route through our /go/ layer so we can count clicks. These are plain links to the merchant with no affiliate parameters, and they pay us nothing:
- MRCOOL DIY 5th Generation (mrcool.com), not an affiliate link
- Senville LETO 12,000 BTU 230V (hvacdirect.com), not an affiliate link
- Senville Aura 12,000 BTU (senville.com), not an affiliate link
- Zone Air DIY 18,000 BTU 230V (zone-air.com), not an affiliate link
- Pioneer Quantum Ultra 12,000 BTU 230V (pioneerminisplit.com), not an affiliate link
- Daikin Entra 12,000 BTU 230V (hvacdirect.com), not an affiliate link
- Cooper & Hunter Sophia Hyper 12,000 BTU 230V (homedepot.com), not an affiliate link
- Carrier Infinity 35 12,000 BTU 230V (hvacdirect.com), not an affiliate link
- Mitsubishi FX12 Hyper Heat 12,000 BTU 230V (hvacdirect.com), not an affiliate link
What changes on approval
When a program approves us, commissions may start on some links. You will not have to take our word for when that happened: this page reads the active-program list from the same registry file that controls every affiliate link on the site, so a program appears here the day its links go live. Every affiliate link is marked rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", and a disclosure block renders above the first affiliate link on any page that carries one. Before you click, not in the footer.
The independence rule
A commission never changes a verdict, a DIY tier, a comparison value, or whether a product is recommended at all. If the honest answer is that you do not need the thing, or that you should not DIY the install, that is the answer, and the link does not appear. Premium pro-install brands are never pushed as DIY purchases to earn a commission.
This is checkable rather than aspirational: every recommendation states the criteria it was made on, so you can test the reasoning yourself. And some of it is enforced in the site's own build. Every affiliate link must pass through one registered chokepoint, a raw merchant URL in an article fails the build, and a page cannot render an affiliate link without disclosure handling.
What this site will never do: display advertising, sponsored posts, paid reviews, paid placement in a comparison, or letting a company read an article before it publishes.
